Furnishing and decorating an open plan living room
This living room is open to the entry on one side and the kitchen behind it, so we did a furniture layout that leaves multiple openings into the room while still giving plenty of comfortable seating for tv watching and gatherings. For homes like this one with a preschooler and a dog, I am a huge fan of a combination of leather and dark colored fabric for the upholstery. Leather looks better with scratches and signs of wear and dark fabrics (especially performance rated) are easier to keep looking clean. We love how this living room turned out, especially because it belongs to our younger brother!

I love having an interior design business with my twin sister! My favorite way to come up with a design is to use favorite places, people, and memories as the inspiration. I live in Frisco Texas with my husband and our three teenaged children, who are my most rewarding interior design clients. I love Andy’s, podcasts, reading and tv, especially while sitting in bed. My goal is for your home to feel cozy when you are alone, spacious when you are throwing a party, and to give you a confidence boost every time you walk in the door.
