How to Make Cheap Candles Look Expensive

One of my favorite styling accessories are candles. I love that they add so much to a room because they hit multiple senses by looking good and smelling good. Plus seeing the little flame makes me feel warm and cozy. For all of these reasons, I burn candles almost every day. That habit would be too expensive for my budget if I was always buying luxury candles, so here are a few of the things I do to make grocery store candles look a little more high-end. Tip 1: Remove the label from the candle jar

The first thing to do is peel off the label. It's hard to feel luxurious when the flame is illuminating a word that conjures up images of the grocery store.

Tip 2: Put the candle in an opaque hurricane

I love a clear hurricane but I think the opaque options are so much better because you can't see what the candle looks like. Keep several scattered around the house so you can pop in any candle without having to worry about it matching anything or even removing the label. I love doing this because then I can buy candles purely for the scent without having to think about the color of the wax or what the packaging looks like. Plus a huge hurricane gives a little candle so much more presence.

Tip 3: Set the candle in a dish

This one makes even the littlest candles look important. I try to always have my candles sitting in something. A little bowl, on top of a vintage plate, etc.

This crystal candle dish is one of my favorite styling accessories because it makes every candle look amazing.

Tip 4: Put a cheap candle inside the empty jar of an expensive candle

Here is the perfect excuse to spend way too much on a candle- because while the wax won't last forever, the jar will. So when you can, treat yourself to a luxury candle, savor every second of the scent, then wash out the empty jar and use it as a hurricane for grocery store candles. Here's one with a label you will never want to peel off.
