remembering my great-grandma with my decor

My great-grandma had a magnolia tree in her front yard. When Brooke and I were kids, one of our favorite things to do at her house was to play in that tree. I have so many memories of pretending it was our clubhouse, pretending it was our dolls’ house, and seeing how high we could climb.

Now that our grandma has passed, I have a lot of books, dishes and decor items from her house, and I treasure those things. But one of my favorite ways to remember her is with magnolia branches. I have beautiful faux ones that I love, and those have travelled with me to different houses as my family and I have moved. Now in this new house, I’m so thrilled that there’s a giant magnolia tree outside, so I can also use real branches from it.

Whenever I see one of my magnolia branches or flowers, it feels like a hello from my great-grandma.
