styling my kitchen for fall
After this scorching hot summer I have been anxious to welcome cooler temperatures by changing up the décor in my kitchen. I wanted to try a more subtle fall look, so I chose things that can work all year but when put together give a definite autumnal mood.
MY TIPS FOR DECORATING FOR FALL WITHOUT USING A SINGLE PUMPKIN:
ADD BRASS ACCENTS- It’s warm and feels traditional so works well in autumn
CHANGE UP THE RUG- I swapped my previous runner for this Flor Squares one in the Check It Out pattern because it reminds me of those checkerboard cutting boards, so it goes well with cooking and fall.
USE BRANCHES IN DARKER SHADES OF GREEN- The leaves don’t have to be dead or turning colors to give a fall vibe. I’m a fan of magnolia branches in fall and winter because of the brown underside of the leaves.
USE PURPLE FLOWERS- That’s really specific, but we always think of the colors red, orange, and yellow for fall, and purple fits just as well while being less typical.
ADD ART IN MOODY COLORS- it can be of anything as long as the colors are on the darker side and muted.
DON’T FORGET THE FINISHING TOUCHES- I used a towel in multiple browns and tans to coordinate with the rug, and a candle in a brown glass jar.

I am an interior designer who is lucky enough to have a business with my twin sister. My favorite way to come up with a design is to use favorite places, people, and memories as the inspiration. I live in Frisco Texas with my husband and our three teenaged children, who are my most rewarding interior design clients. I love Andy’s, podcasts, reading and tv, especially while sitting in bed. My favorite room to design is the living room because it serves so many purposes. My goal is for your home to feel cozy when you are alone, spacious when you are throwing a party, and to give you a confidence boost every time you walk in the door.
