throwback thursday

This is Joan, and I like sharing pictures of Brooke and I from back-when on my Instagram, to help people get to know us better. Today I thought it would be fun to start doing it on our blog too, and then I can give more of a description of the picture.

So here’s today’s, and it’s proof that we’ve always been creative!

This is from back when we were in middle school (I’m pretty sure). Brooke is on the left with the bear & ice cream cone. Our teacher had only instructed us to make paper mache ice cream cones, but Brooke went above-and-beyond and attached a teddy bear to hers. I tried to improve mine too, but I was only committed enough to put a mouse on the side. I did decide that it would look really artsy and neat to have the ice cream melting down the cone, but when I look at it now it just looks like a sticky mess.

Our mom thought they were amazing, and she exclaimed about our talents while taking about forty pictures. She put them up high on the living room shelves so our little brother couldn’t reach and destroy them, and for the next year she would take them down and show them off when company came over.
